KRCB Public Media is proud to announce that Robin Pressman, Program Director of KRCB Radio, has been selected as one of five North Bay individuals or institutions to receive a 2011 Boho Award, presented recently at the Hopmonk Tavern in Sebastopol.  This is the fourteenth year the North Bay Bohemian has honored special people in this community who have gone to extraordinary lengths to support and promote independent artists in the North Bay.

Robin is also the co-host of the popular Saturday afternoon folk music radio program "Our Roots Are Showing".  In her 17- year tenure, she has developed KRCB as a platform for promoting the arts and music. Along the way, she has created and developed the station’s showcase programs, and nurtured and trained hundreds of volunteer programmers. Her efforts have introduced countless people to the work of local musicians, actors, writers, and artists of all kinds. Her encouragement and counsel has proven invaluable to many emerging as well as experienced artists whose legacies she has ensured will live on. Bohemian editorial contributor David Templeton noted that “KRCB Radio is a local treasure, and it is hoped that all of the many volunteers and contributors will see this award as also representing their fine work too, which under Robin Pressman’s guidance has helped illustrate what a rich and varied community we live in.”

Robin Pressman expressed her thoughts upon receiving the Boho Award, saying “Without the arts, we wouldn’t have the words to celebrate, the songs to protest, the music to mine the depths of our hearts, or the images to crystallize, even in our most despairing times, humankind's efforts to understand and to better our place in the world. The Arts are sometimes a solitary pursuit, but radio is most definitely a collaborative effort.  I’m honored to have been able to work alongside an amazingly dedicated, knowledgeable and passionate group of programmers, staff and volunteers—and I’m honored to share this award with all of them.”
