History and Background

Sonoma County Grange Credit Union is the definition of a local financial institution, serving Sonoma County and the North Bay since 1948. Our original members' goal was to serve the members of the agriculture community, and that is still what we do today.

At the June 9, 1948 Board Meeting, the Treasurer reported that there were seven members, share balances of $40, loan balances of $0, and cash in the bank of 30 cents.  The Board voted to approve the purchase of a stamp bearing the name of the credit union.  By the end of the first year there were 70 members and $3,500 in assets.  By the end of the second year, the credit union had caught on, and there were 136 members and $39,000 in assets.

In December 1949, the 100th member joined the credit union, and the Charter List was officially closed.

Today, at $42,000,000 in assets and 3000 members, the credit union staff and directors remain as committed as ever to the personal service and sound financial decisions that these visionary individuals established.  We still exclusively serve the members of the agriculture community.  Whether you are in 4-H, FFA, a farmer or rancher, a Grange member, or work in the industry, we are here for you.

Community Involvement

Sonoma County Grange Credit Union has a long standing relationship with the agriculture community. We have partnered with the 4-H and FFA to offer Zero Interest Ag Loans for students who are raising a market animal for the Sonoma County Fair. These loans carry no interest and are a perfect opportunity to teach youth about loans and the loan process. The best part of this program is once a borrower has paid back their loan we will report their credit score - creating a positive foundation for building good credit.

We also offer scholarships to students graduating high school and continuing their education with a major in agriculture. Check out our website for more information regarding scholarships.

Working closely with these agriculture organizations allow us to offer FFA proficency awards and Gold & Platinum Star awards for 4-H.

The staff here is great. We have worked with them for the last 4 years. My kids were able to get 4H loans....and subsequently have started establishing a credit report that looks better than mine!
