It pays to buy local. Rewards merchants give GoLocal Bucks to cardholders when they make a purchase.

Three basic principles highlight the GoLocal Rewards Card program.

How It Works
It's easy . . .
- Get your GoLocal Rewards Card (see below)
- Click here to find GoLocal members offering rewards
- Present your Golocal Rewards Card when you shop
"Show the Card" Rewards
Merchants offering "show the card" rewards will give you a discount or special reward for simply showing your card.
"Electronic" Rewards
- Loyalty Rewards - It works like popular “punch card” loyalty programs, with the added convenience of electronic tracking and a single card that works at many businesses. Cardholders may view their accounts online to keep track of their progress.
- GoLocal Bucks - Some merchants offer rebates in GoLocal Bucks on purchases made with your GoLocal Rewards Card. Earned GoLocal Bucks you may spend on your next purchase with any Merchant accepting GoLocal Bucks.

Get A Card
There are two ways to get a GoLocal Rewards Card.
Become a Member
Locally-owned businesses, residents, non-profit organizations, and governments in Sonoma County can all become members. All GoLocal members get a GoLocal Rewards Card when they join. Click here for more information on becoming a member of the cooperative.
Each membership is considered an investment in the GoLocal Cooperative, and entitles the member to a vote to elect the board of directors and on other matters from time to time.
Employees of engaged GoLocal business and organization members receive free GoLocal resident memberships. Click here for the eligibility requirements to receive free employee memberships.
Shop at a GoLocal Rewards Card Merchant
At select locations, customers of GoLocal Rewards Card Merchants can get a free GoLocal Rewards Card with purchase that is usable at all participating businesses. Free customer cards are not considered memberships and do not entitle the cardholder to a vote in cooperative matters.

is there a list of merchants who take the go local card id like to have one but id like the list of businesses that take it too ?

Yes, please click the link in the pull down menu under "GoLocal Rewards Card" in the main menu bar. The link is called Rewards Card Merchants.
I don't want to pay a membership fee if I can't see where I can use the card, or whether I'll save more than the fee. I signed up and have a card, but I stopped at paying the fee. Sorry. I do shop locally, but can't easily see where i'll get discounts.

As of today, 4/21/11, there are 140 rewards card merchant members offering rewards. On this site you can go here to find them. In the menu bar, see GoLocal Rewards Card, in the pull down menu select Rewards Card Merchants.
