May 19, 2011
Brett Martinez, President and CEO of Santa-Rosa-based Redwood Credit Union (RCU), was honored with the “Executive Campaign Chair of the Year” award from United Way of the Wine Country in recognition of the Credit Union’s 2010 workplace fundraising campaign. The combined contributions from RCU, its employees and officials totaled more than $82,000, exceeding the company’s goal by 11%, and besting its 2009 campaign by nearly $4,000. The award was presented at the United Way’s Campaign Close Celebration, recently held at Shone Farm in Forestville.
“I’m honored to receive this award from United Way, but RCU’s staff and officials truly deserve this recognition for their continued commitment to helping our local communities,” said Mr. Martinez. “Our partnership with United Way allows our employees to have a measurable effect on improving the lives of those in need, and each year, when we exceed our campaign goal, I am amazed by the generosity of our employees and Officials.” . Over the past ten years, RCU has contributed more than $545,000 through their annual employee giving campaign.
The Credit Union offered several unique incentives to encourage employees to contribute: weekly prize raffles, casual days, a company-paid lunch, ice cream parties, and a staff raffle to win lunch with RCU’s Executive Team.
In addition to its annual United Way campaign, RCU contributes to its communities year-round through monetary pledges and sponsorships, volunteerism, and leadership on local non-profit boards. Some of the other efforts RCU supports include the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, the American Heart Association, Salvation Army and National Make-A-Difference Day.
RCU is a cooperative providing full-service banking and financial services throughout the North Bay and San Francisco. RCU has nearly $1.9 billion in assets, and membership has grown to nearly 200,000. For additional information, visit www.redwoodcu.org, or call (707) 545-4000 or toll-free 1 (800) 479-7928.
