Triangle Park Meeting News

Aug. 20, 2010

The Triangle Park Committee has had two meetings since its inception last Fall.  The committee consists of 16 neighbors and at our first meeting we discussed landscaping with native plants, paths, sculpture, irrigation, and flowers.

At our second meeting, held in January, we decided on the logo and we discussed neighborhood involvement in creating the park.  We want to keep it "home grown" without fund raising, just neighbors bringing plants and hardscaping such as pavers, bricks or benches to the park.  We want to have a sculpture in the center and water for visitors and dogs.  But there are several problems.

There is no water available on the property and the City says it would charge us to bring water to it.  The City has access to at least three sculptures that would be fitting, but it would cost over $5,000 to move any one of them there.

The BGNA wanted to improve the land through the City's Adopt-A-Green-Space, which has been beneficial for many neighborhoods, but recently the City has made that more difficult for us too.  We are pursuing a lease of the property from the City.

In any case, we decided to have a BBQ coinciding with the Annual Plant Sale on June 5th.  We will not be discouraged!  To join the Triangle Park Committee, email:
