About the founder and head baker:

Hi there, I’m Vero!

I inherited my love for cooking from my grandma and father. I also had the privilege to grow up in Sonoma County - a community with deep roots in agriculture that further fueled my love for food and armed me with a respect for sourcing and cooking with quality ingredients.

My passion for bread began after taking the trip of my life in 2017. I quit my job to backpack Europe, South East Asia and South America. During this time, I worked on farms, food markets and cafes in Italy and Chile, explored local food cultures from east to west, and learned the importance of preserving precious food traditions rather than making food for quantity's sake.

The fresh and hearty bread broken through my travels remained vivid in my mind, and when I returned in 2018 I was driven to master the craft. This pursuit brought me to Craig Ponsford, local master baker at the Artisan Baking Center, where I volunteered for over two years and gained a deeper appreciation for this essential art, while also learning diverse methods on making great bread.

Pane di Vero came to life in April of 2020, out of necessity during Covid-19 and since has transformed into a thriving adventure. Our mission is to offer customers healthier and conveniently accessible alternatives to the highly processed grain breads available for purchase at the grocery store.
