Extranjeros En Su Propia Tierra / Strangers in Their Own Land

Sept. 17, 2009 — Sept. 26, 2009

About

A group of desert travelers move back and forth in time through a magic doorway, a shoe enjoys the pleasures of free trade, and a courtroom is overwhelmed by the Rio Grande. Families are torn apart and immigrants ransomed both by outlaws and the law itself. Extranjeros En Su Propia Tierra is a collection of life stories, history, and timeless fable woven together to reveal the human element in today's immigration issues. This community-based collaboration in conjunction with the Graton Day Labor Center was created by the actors who perform it. Provocative and intriguing, this piece raises questions about the meanings of boundaries, countries, and kindness.
