About
This moving presentation takes a fresh look at a pivotal event in American history from 1916-1920.
Iron Jawed Angels tells the true story of how defiant and brilliant young activists Alice Paul and Lucy Burns, played by Hilary Swank and Frances O’Connor, took the women’s suffrage movement by storm, putting their lives at risk to help American Women win the right to vote.
This is a free presentation with the purpose of:
- Providing information about how women finally got the vote
- To encourage women to vote
This is a movie you do not want to miss! We need to understand her story.
In some countries, women still cannot vote. Bring a woman friend to see this movie who does not vote.
Event sponsor Elaine B. Holtz notes, "I asked a friend what does it mean when people do not vote. She said to me, “then we have a government by default.” My theory is when people do not vote it tells elected leaders people don’t care. Therefore, why should they? They can do just about anything they want to do."
Film 6:30 - 9:00, discussion to follow.
