The Progressive Club of Healdsburg High School will be presenting the tenth annual Earth Day Festival on the Plaza in downtown Healdsburg, April 21 from 11 am to 5 pm.
Highlighted will be remarks by many progressive speakers, including:
• Congressional candidate Norman Solomon
• KPFA’s Miguel Molina
• Sonoma County Supervisor Mike McGuire
• the Climate Protection Campaign’s Amy Jolly
• the Russian River Keepers’ Don McEnhill
and a guest speaker from
• the Committee for Immigrant Rights/North Bay Organizing Project.
Entertainers for the day will include:
• Hoytus and One Heart, Happy Accident, Hannah & Sky, The Hopheads, Floral, Attila Nagy, Bees Don’t See Blue, and the Jazz Hounds
• the Native Resistance Drum Group
•Danza Azteca Xantotl and more!
Near the Main Stage will be over 30 booths staffed by representatives from community environmental and social justice organizations. A Children’s Garden will offer free face painting and visits from Mr. YoYo Man. (Bring your yo-yo!) Student art will also be available for purchase.
Presenters of the event are the dedicated students of Healdsburg High’s Progressive Club. They have been hosting fundraising events to finance the Festival since last August, all focusing on education, empowerment, and action. They count school principal Van den Heuvel, Supervisor Mike McGuire, and several enthusiastic community members among their valued supporters. Join them all in the Plaza from 11-5 on April 21!
