Insect Investigation

About

Did you know that insects are the largest and most diverse group of organisms on Earth? These creatures constitute about 75% of all described animal species and are extremely abundant, yet abundantly overlooked! Join Daily Acts for a family-fun event investigating the many insect species of the learning landscape at the Petaluma Regional Library! This kid-friendly and hands-on educational event will be led by entomologist Kandis Gilmore, who has a Master of Science focused in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Sonoma State University. We'll begin the day by admiring Kandis's collection of specimens from each of the different insect groups to become familiar with their unique features. Then, we'll investigate the insects of the learning landscape at the Petaluma Regional Library with a catch-and-release event, where we'll get an up-close look at our local insect population!
