About

Building off the incredible success of their inaugual effort in 2018, 13 Sonoma County cidermakers have banded together for the 2nd annual Sonoma County Cider Week. The cider-centric celebration will be held August 17–25, 2019, and will highlight the extraordinary quality and diversity of ciders that are made in Sonoma County, while giving back to the agricultural community.

Participating cidermakers include Ace Cider, Agrestic Cider, Ethic Ciders, Eye Cyder, Goat Rock Cider, Golden State Cider, Horse & Plow, Leaky Barrel Cider, Old World Winery, Preston, Sawhorse Ciders, Specific Gravity/Nana Mae’s Cider, and Tilted Shed Ciderworks. All use Sonoma County apples to some extent in their ciders, and will be showcasing these ciders, along with their other of- ferings, during Sonoma County Cider Week.

Sonoma County Cider Week will feature two grand tastings in Sebastopol. The first will be at the Craft Cider Tent at the Gravenstein Apple Fair, August 17–18, at Ragle Ranch Regional Park, benefiting Sonoma County Farm Trails. The second will be at a brand-new event called Community Ciderfest, August 24, at Community Market in the Barlow, benefiting Farmers Guild/CAFF. Additional special events will range from tap takeovers to orchard and cidery tours, special releases, cider dinners, and joint retail displays.

“Sonoma County is well known for wine and beer, but it’s quickly becoming one of the nation’s premier cider regions as well, rooted in a rich apple-growing heritage and fueled by a vibrant artisan libation culture,” said Ryan Johnston, Orchard Manager and Cidermaker at Ethic Ciders. “What I love about our local cider scene is the diversity—there is something for everyone—and that’s what Cider Week is all about inviting folks to discover!”

The calendar of events will be regularly updated on the Sonoma County Cider Week website: see www.sonomacountyciderweek.com.
