About
6th Street Playhouse proudly presents Monty Python’s SPAMALOT, a comedic musical opening the 2013-2014 season in the GK Hardt theatre. Lovingly ripped off from the 1975 Monty Python classic, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, SPAMALOT is written by famed Python, Eric Idle, who also collaborated with John Du Prez on the score. The original 2005 Broadway production won three Tony Awards, including the Tony Award for Best Musical and received 14 Tony Award nominations. During its initial run of more than 1,500 performances, it was seen by more than two million people and grossed more than $175 million.
“A no-holds-barred smash hit!" ~ The New Yorker
SPAMALOT retells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, featuring a bevy of beautiful show girls, not to mention cows, killer rabbits, and French people. This hysterical, irreverent parody of Arthurian Legend will keep audience members laughing throughout the show. The 6th Street Playhouse production features stage direction by Artistic Director, Craig A. Miller and choreography by Alise Girard, most recently choreographer and on stage as “Pickles” in The Great American Trailer Park Musical.
Jason Sherbundy, of Forestville, California, brings a distinguished resume of musical direction work to SPAMALOT, including his work on Broadway on Catch Me If You Can, Porgy and Bess, On a Clear Day, Anything Goes, The Lion King, Chicago and Bring It On. Additionally, Sherbundy also had roles on the TV shows, SMASH and Bombshell. Returning to the Bay Area, he's worked with Berkeley Opera and WestEdge Opera, as well as on local productions of The Lion King, Wicked and Anything Goes in San Francisco.
Featuring a talented cast from around the North Bay area, locals may recognize Barry Martin and Taylor Bartolucci DeGuilio of Lucky Penny Productions in the roles of “King Arthur” and the “Lady of the Lady” and Erick Weiss as “Patsy.”
SPAMALOT opens August 23, 2013 in the GK Hardt Theatre at the 6th Street Playhouse, located at 52 W. 6th Street in Santa Rosa. This musical runs August 23 through September 22.
