Copperfield's Books is much more than a place to purchase a new book or magazine. It's where national authors meet their readers in an intimate setting to discuss literature and ideas. It's where passionate thinkers are hired as booksellers. It's where book lovers enjoy spending their time.
Nine Copperfield's stores are flourishing locally in Sonoma, Napa and Marin counties thanks to book lovers who appreciate the difference local independent booksellers offer. The stores are vibrant gathering places that offer cozy surroundings for finding stimulating books or informally meeting neighbors to talk about a bestseller.
The Copperfield's website embodies that local independent bookstore feeling as well as our commitment to service online. It began in 1981 when Barney Brown and Paul Jaffe launched Copperfield's in a small storefront in downtown Sebastopol. The town needed a full-service bookstore and Brown and Jaffe embraced the chance to share what they loved - books - with the public.
Now with 9 stores, the love of books governs us still.
