John Ross is a legend in Sonoma County. He has taught dance to thousands of individuals for over 40 YEARS. John Ross is DANCE and DANCE is John Ross. John Ross began dancing at the age of 16, finding it a healthy way to celebrate life during challenging times. After finishing college, he began training to teach dance. By this time, he had performed with Buddy Schwimmer’s Northern California dance team and had studied with the top competitors in Europe and America. He received his teaching medals and taught his first class in 1982.

John is an ordained interfaith minister, certified massage therapist, and spiritual counselor, which, when combined with his decades of dance experience, results in a well-rounded, all-inclusive unique experience for his students. John also pairs with students competing at all levels of Smooth and Rhythm in regional Pro-Am competitions.

Ballroom: American Smooth: Waltz, Foxtrot Tango, Viennese Waltz and Peabody. International Standard: Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese Waltz, and Quickstep.

Latin: American Rhythm: Cha Cha, Rumba, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Bolero, Mambo, and Samba.

Swing: Balboa, East Coast Swing (Triple-Time), Jitterbug (Single-Time East Coast Swing), Jive, Lindy Hop, West Coast Swing

Nightclub: Argentine Tango, Bachata, Club Salsa, Cumbia, Hustle / Disco, Nightclub Two-Step / Slow Two Step

Country: Texas Two-Step / Country Two-Step, Country Waltz, Line Dancing and more.

Many Others: Charleston, Classic Slow Dance, Polka, Wedding Dances and Choreography, Freestyle
