About
Sonoma Chocolatiers is a small, family-run artisanal chocolate company in Sonoma County, within the heart of California's wine country.
We are here to help you enjoy chocolates. We don't cover the flavor of the fine chocolate by adding more sugar - the sweetness of our products comes from quality fruits, nuts, spices, wine, liqueurs, and the small amount of sugar already in dark chocolate. Our company reflects our values. As much as possible, we use organic and local ingredients to flavor our chocolate.
We search for environmentally friendly packaging - our bags and boxes are made from recycled materials and are recyclable. We sell fine chocolate at farmers markets and throughout the internet; as well as wholesale to retail stores, wineries, gourmet stores, caterers, chefs, restaurants and other outlets in Sonoma and surrounding counties.
Please contact us if you would like to feature our products. We are growing quickly and adding new retail outlets regularly. Because we are a small company, we make small batches of truffles. At times we do not have some of our flavors in stock. If a flavor you choose is not in stock, we will make it and ship your order as soon as possible (it takes 3-4 days to make a truffle).
At Sonoma Chocolatiers, we help you meet your minimum daily requirement of the fifth food group with unusual and luscious hand-made chocolates. Chocolate, not sugar, takes center stage in our products. We use only dark chocolate, to provide the fullest chocolate flavor, (and the health benefits that only dark chocolate provide). Our products range from 62%-85% cacao.
We use Sharffen Berger chocolate in all our products, and we add no sugar--the only sugar in our products comes from the Scharffen Berger chocolate (excepting the sugar coating on some chocolate-covered nuts and coffee beans)--We taste-tested more than 15 chocolates before choosing to exclusively use Scharffen Berger. Their unique blends provide a strong, nuanced chocolate flavor that lasts long on the tongue, without a bitter or dry after taste. Our goal is to provide truffles and other indulgences with bold flavors that complement but don't mask the chooclate.
Since we use no preservatives (including added sugar), our truffles are best when stored in a cool, dry place and eaten within 10 days (or 14 days if refrigerated following our guidelines on the Products page). We hope you enjoy eating our truffles as much as we enjoy making them for you!
