About
The Flores Family's traditional Mexican dishes and flavors are sourced from our ancestors' recipes that originated in Guadalajara, Jalisco. They are not only the inspiration, but they are also the passion. We are committed to honoring our Mexican traditions by using fresh ingredients sourced locally.
Our star ingredient is the corn masa— the dough used in making the fresh corn tortillas found on our menu. At Tortilla Real, we make our tortillas every day by hand from fresh corn masa, just the way our mom used to make.
Our culinary roots go back to a big family and warm kitchen in Guadalajara, Jalisco, where our mom and grandmothers gave us a taste for cooking from scratch. No matter how early or late the meal was– the tortillas would be made by hand, and the salsas carefully crafted to bring out the flavor. To this day, our favorite foods, including homemade Carnitas and Birria Tapatia, are among the most time-consuming to prepare; but that is what makes them delicious.
“We always wanted to open a restaurant that captured the real flavor of Mexico. 'Homemade and deeply personal.'"
The Flores Brothers' secret is the handmade, slow-cooking family traditions of native Guadalajara to prepare our carne asada, carnitas, birria, lengua, simmered shredded chicken tinga, and beer-battered pescado. Vegetarian dishes receive the same attention to detail, quality ingredients, and chance to show off as any meat-based dish. To top everything off, we have different salsas. Each is made fresh daily and specially paired to spark the flavor of each taco.
