The GO LOCAL Team
Janeen Murray, Director
Janeen draws professional experience from both the business sector and the educational arena. Starting out as a junior high and high school teacher in Sonoma County public schools, she inspired a commitment to learning and sustainability in our youth. For the next decade she managed Operations and Marketing/Communications at two Sonoma County locally owned companies. Logging almost 10 years as GO LOCAL's Co-Manager and Board Member, she now serves as Executive Director. Also Manager of Sustaining Technologies, LLC, she works both organizations in tandem to develop programs and marketing consulting for locally owned businesses. Janeen also serves as a member of the Sonoma County Food System Alliance and is a 2011 Fellow of the Leadership Institute for Ecology and the Economy. You may also come across her wailing on her accordion around the county with The Hubbub Club street band and serves on the board of the nonprofit Hubbub Music Society. Debbie grew up in Sonoma County, wife to Mark Stohlman and mother to two beautiful daughters Julia and Rachel. She has been in the mortgage banking industry for over 28 years and a paid tax preparer for 20 of those years. Debbie is GO LOCAL's bookkeeper, Accounts receivable specialist, Accounts Payable, accounting coordinator, and serves on the GO LOCAL board. Debbie's passion is volleyball, her need to balance her inner compass is filled by recharging at Doran Beach for some serious (and seriously fun) doubles volleyball. Her love of volleyball also has her running her own volleyball tournaments and the volleyball ministry at her church. Contact: email@example.com
We welcome Mark Stohlman as our new Marketing Coordinator as of July 2019. Upon retiring from over 24 years of service in the United States Coast Guard and 14 of those years in Sonoma County, he settled in Sonoma County for good in 2007. Mark has spent the last 11 years in hotel management, most recently at the Bodega Bay Lodge as Director of Rooms and Revenue. Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org

The Sonoma County GO LOCAL Board of Directors
Philip Beard, Ph.D. - Secretary
Emeritus professor of German at Sonoma State University, Dr. Beard co-designed and from 2000 to 2005 co-coordinated the Global Studies B.A. program there. His interest in complementary economics stems from his extensive study of the roots of violent behavior. Since the early 1990’s, Dr. Beard has collaborated on various projects aiming to design and implement robust, sustainable mutual credit programs at the regional level. The current design, “Sustaining Capital,” forms an important part of the Sonoma County GO LOCAL Cooperative’s long-term plans. Dr. Beard is a co-founder of GO LOCAL.
Terry Garrett - Treasurer
Terry Garrett served as the co-managing member of Sonoma County GO LOCAL and Sustaining Technologies from 2009 through 2018. He is now a member of the board. He also serves as a board member of Sonoma County Economic Development Board and also as co-chair of the Cannabis Advisory Group for Sonoma County Board of Supervisors. Prior to his work in local economic development, he published local newsweekly newspapers and magazines and developed marketing programs for local retailers and restaurants. Currently, he is co-publisher of the local food industry magazine, Made Local, and Chief Operating Officer for Mercy Wellness.
Chris is the Chairman of the Gourd for Guayaki Sustainable Rainforest Products, a Sebastopol-based importer and marketer of Guayaki Yerba Mate and other rainforest products. Guayaki grows its products sustainably within the South America's Atlantic Rainforest and currently sustains and/or restores nearly 20,000 acres of rainforest, 34 indigenous families and over 300 bird and mammal species. Chris earned a BA in Economics from Harvard University but quickly realized that economics conveniently forgot about sustaining the environment and protecting people. Through his experience with Guayaki and previously with Natural Flavors, a 100% organic, vegan restaurant that employed 25 people and 60 local farmers, Chris is finding that by recognizing common purpose, seemingly disparate groups can integrate social justice, environmental restoration and economic success.

Todd is CEO of Community First, a 53-year-old, locally based financial cooperative. He has held executive positions at financial cooperatives for the past 28 years. Todd is a Certified Public Accountant and earned his MBA, with an emphasis in Accounting, from Cal State University, East Bay. Also under Todd’s guidance, during the dark days of the Great Recession when big banks stopped lending, Community First increasedits lending volume so that Sonoma County residents could continue to buy homes and cars.
